Larry Baer is considered one of the professional sports’ most foresighted individuals. He began his profession in the media by working for television broadcasting company Westinghouse Media and CBS Inc. before joining Major League Baseball after studying at Harvard. He began working as the Giants CEO in the early nineties when he oversaw the drive to put together a new leadership group that would keep the team in San Francisco.
Later in 2012, he was appointed Director of the Major League Baseball franchise. The club garnered their two World Series title in three years within his first year as SF Giants CEO. The club’s unbeaten run was extended in 2014 when they won their 3rd World Championship.
Larry Baer also commissioned the creation of Oracle Park, something that many supporters consider as one of the “best ballparks ever designed.” The park has gained considerable recognition since its inauguration in 2000, including being named Recreation Facility of the Year by Sports Business Newspaper in 2008.
Baer, the president and founder of Giants Development Solutions, is in charge of the company. This subsidiary of the corporation is now creating another blended urban community along McCovey Cove and Oracle Park. When finished, approximately 1,500 modern housing units, more than 1,000,000 sq. ft. of office space, 250,000 sq. ft. of shops, fast food joints, and services, and Eight acres of parks and scenic public fields will be included in Mission Rock. Countless awards and titles have also been conferred upon him. He garnered the Alumnus of the Year prize from Harvard Business School in 2012. The Giants CEO was bestowed the Excellence in Prize by the University of California Berkeley shortly afterward and by the University of California Berkeley Baseball Foundation in 2019. He is married to Palm, whom they live together with their four kids in San Francisco
